Essroc & Local Community Raise Money for Prince Edward County Soccer Association in Picton, ON |
 |
Picton, ON -- Three new soccer fields and a 65-car parking area end a four-year odyssey to bring modern playing fields for some 950 young soccer players in Prince Edward County. Through the cooperation of County Council, PEC Soccer Association and many organizations, the seven-acre site has been transformed from a dream to a reality. Essroc has had a long-standing relationship with the Soccer Association as a team sponsor, and generously strengthened that connection when approached to contribute to the new soccer fields. Essroc donated $5,000 plus 800 tonnes of limestone gravel (valued at $10,000) for the new parking lot. Essroc's Alex Wojciechowski, Plant Manager, and Dan Wight, Administration Manager, were on hand for the official unveiling of a monument to recognize major contributors to the project. The Picton plant has a strong commitment to the community, and is proud to be a part of the Soccer Association's success that will benefit local children for years to come.
If you visit ESSROC's Picton facility, don't be surprised if it bears an uncanny resemblance to an art gallery. "All these paintings are the result of another community effort", Wight says, pointing to the original paintings brightening the office walls. "ESSROC sponsors the Artist of the Year Award at the Prince Edward County Fair. One of the benefits of sponsorship is that we get to showcase the first place entry each year. We have 20 years worth of first place paintings on display at the Picton office. |
