Inside Essroc
FAQs

Here are some of the questions most commonly asked about ESSROC. Should you have a question not answered here, please click on CONTACT US and we will do our best to provide a prompt answer. Thank you.

Is ESSROC publicly or privately held?
ESSROC is privately held 100% by its parent company,
Societe Ciments Francais S.A.
, which is a French company publicly traded on the Paris stock exchange under the ticker symbol F.CIM. In turn, Ciments Francais is majority owned and controlled by Italcementi S.p.A., an Italian company publicly traded on the Milan stock exchange under the ticker symbol IT.

Does Essroc publish an annual report?
No. However ESSROC information is included as part of the consolidated annual reports published by Italcementi and Ciments Francais. For more facts, please go to the Italcementi Group website.

Do you support charitable organizations?
Quite actively, as you can see in the Community section of this website. Each ESSROC facility location supports local non-profit efforts, organizations and activities. Choices concerning which charitable efforts to support, and contribution amounts, are made by local management.

All ESSROC plants and our Corporate Office also actively contribute to annual United Way fund drives through employee payroll deductions. Additionally, ESSROC Cement Corp. contributes directly to United Way on an annual basis.

Are there other ways that ESSROC is involved in the local communities?
Yes. For decades, when needs have been expressed in the many communities which are home to ESSROC's people and facilities, we have responded through sponsorships, volunteerism and contributions of our resources. As you will see in our Community section of site, ESSROC people seek ways to make our communities better and make lasting contributions in ways that are both conventional and creative, depending on the need. We believe good will is good business...and it shows in the difference ESSROC makes in the communities we call "home" throughout the United States and Canada.

What is ESSROC's stance on employee safety?
Historically, ESSROC has maintained one of the best safety records in the cement industry. Safety has been part of our company culture for many decades and our record has been recognized by the Portland Cement Association for many years.

But when it comes to industrial safety, good enough isn't good enough. Our goal is nothing less than zero accidents year after year at all ESSROC locations. Our sincerity about safety is evidenced by the ESSROC "Zero Accident" project launched internationally in 2002 by the Italcementi Group to strengthen safety management and performance...and achieve even better safety records for now and into the future.

Our "Zero Accident" program was developed in cooperation with DuPont Safety Resources and the Italcementi Technical Training group. It reaches all levels of ESSROC operations and is setting new standards for the recognition, correction and prevention of unsafe acts or conditions. What is ESSROC's record and policy on the environment?
We are proud of our record of compliance with all environmental regulations and have invested considerable resources in the technology and environmental expertise necessary to continue our quest to be the cleanest and greenest cement company in the world.

An important way we are focusing on the highest environmental standards in the history of our industry is the commitment set forth in Italcementi's Sustainable Development Environmental Policy, a vital part of our company culture since it was issued in 2001. There are many specific goals of this environmental mandate, but the summarizing goal n our Environmental Policy perhaps says it best:

"The final goal of our Environmental Policy is to achieve the best balance between the use of natural resources and long term economic growth while ensuring a better quality of life for present and future generations."
